Making progress. Spotted Ladybugs Napkins.

Washed and dried, the fabric is laid out and pinned so that it is completely straight and even.

Cutting it is the most anxious part of it.  This is why it is a good thing that I practiced and practiced on the designs that didn’t work out.  Practicing a thing helps but it’s still an anxious job.

Labels go into the seam.  They are folded in half lengthwise and tucked into the seam before stitching.  See both sides of the label.

I want you to see the hem.  I use a narrow zig zag stitch because I found that the hems would tend to fold over after I washed them if I use a straight stitch.  I like the appearance of the zig zag, it is very neat.  I am open to advice on this if anyone knows a seam hack.  The hems are very narrow, 5/8 – 6/8.

Each napkin turns out to be approximately 13 3/8″ square.  Great size for lunch or dessert.  They will be four to a package, with lots of extra’s included.

Cake – Chocolate Caramel Cream

Of course there is cake.  For the cake; bake a chocolate cake in round tins.  I use the Devil’s Food Cake recipe from Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook.  It is the best chocolate cake ever and really easy to make.  In the same cook book is the recipe for caramel sauce.  Yum.  I had barley syrup on hand so I used it instead of the corn syrup called for.  Turned out delicious.  I whipped cream with vanilla and a teaspoon of sugar and I grated chocolate over it.  It didn’t last long.

Here is a picture of the sliced piece.

This was Sunday’s after dinner desert.

Who wouldn’t want to end the day with a desert like that?

Love and Blessings,

Hanna
