I do love Spring and the way it progresses once it begins. I went out April 6th to find the weeping cherry covered in little buds. The colors are extraordinarily beautiful. The tree though buds are just beginning to open is alive and buzzing loudly with honeybees and all nectar gathering insects.
One day later I look outside, more of the buds have begun to open. The bees and wasps still loudly active. I spot a large clump of pollen on one bee’s leg.
One more day and I see that even though the temperatures have been low the increased sunshine has given Spring determination.
It rained on the 9th; I didn’t take a picture I also didn’t hear any bees. I wonder what they do when it rains? One minute they are there and the next it is quiet but for the rain. Do they curl up inside a flower to hide?
On the 10th the sun was out again.
The 11th and 12th the little weeping tree were in its springtime glory. Gradually the petals began to fall giving me the feeling of being in a wedding, either for walking down the aisle, a bride over a sea of sweetly smelling petals or the afterward, as eco-conscious confetti falling all around one.
The bees hanging on to the end, buzzing ever loudly.
The last of the flowers still coming into bloom the rest of the tree began to show a beautiful color scheme.
The gorgeous but delicate blooms give way to the fruit and the leaves begin to emerge. The colors of the tree at this stage, always take my breathe away. Golds, pinks, scarlets, greens and grays. Do you think that when a sight such as this causes me to gasp that it’s trying to tell me something? Not the tree but the gasp. The breathless way I reach for my phone and begin to snap pictures. Year after year the same succession of photos. The same gasp at the beauty the same near tears hope that it changes me, my art, my exploration of colors.
The season progresses so quickly that if one is to fully grasp it, it will take you on a full-time journey. At some point you have to get back to the paints, pencils and journals, the computer and its programs to help me show you what I see. Well, show you to the best of my ability at this point in my journey, what I see.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; I’ve heard it said and relaying the beauty to another is in the skill of the messenger, I’m adding.
I hope your spring or fall is off to a great start and that you are able to capture some of its beauty.
Love and blessings, Hanna
