Scribble Picnic: Umbrella

I think I just squeezed in to the Scribble Picnic for this week.  I’m working so hard to get my book finished this month that I almost didn’t do the Picnic this week.  But I discovered that a watercolor scribble is really what it is all about and that I can do that between pages.  Glaze after glaze.  I love this kind of painting.  It seems to emerge gradually over the course of the day.  I used only two colors.  They must be true compliments because they make a beautiful gray together.  So without further ado, here it is.

  1. Look at those cute little red boots/shoes peeking out from under such a big pretty blue umbrella.
I would love to know who’s under there!

Very nice – good luck with your book, sounds interesting.
    Mary –

    1. Thank you so much Janis. I think this is one of the most fantastic journeys I’ve ever been on. It’s all coming together now. Seeing your story and holding your book was one of the best moments in this journey for me. I often take it again in my hands and look through it, thinking about the work that went into it, studying it. Thank you for that. Hanna

  2. I’m enjoying the immediacy of this. Something refreshing about it in its simplicity of line and watercolour washes. I’m sooo glad, Hanna, you got it done! Well done! the colours are perfectly suited, as you note. A lovely addition to our picnic as well. Now, next time, maybe your daughter would like to join us again, at least for “Fairy”? that would be fun to see too. Thank you so much for joining us again. 😀

    1. Thank you Michael. I did ask her to join us but she was busy creating something else. I always tell her that creativity is supposed to be fun, so do what feels fun to you. She’ll join us again sometime. Thank you for ‘Scribble Picnic’, I’ve learned something with each piece and I love seeing all the beautiful pieces done by this amazing group.

  3. I think it is interesting and fun to use a limited color palette and find that they make a lovely gray. I understand what you mean about it appearing layer after layer all day.

    Charming piece.
