Early this summer I began painting strawberries in my sketchbook.
My sister had asked me if I would design a fabric for her jam jars.
I filled several pages with strawberries following Ohn Mar Win’s wonderful teaching at Skillshare.
If you haven’t seen her work you can find her on Instagram here.
Her work is well worth taking a look at.
I felt that my design may need some leaves and I really wanted to try painting them.
After filling a few more pages in my sketchbook I settled on this pair.
I pulled them into my computer and cleaned them up.
I made this design:
It was a large design, strawberries being about 2″ long, and I thought it should be smaller so I did this:
I like this one. The strawberries are approximately 1″ long.
I do like them both and placed them on Spoonflower in a collection I call Summer Fruits.
Spoonflower sells quality fabrics, wallpapers and wrapping paper.
This is what the strawberry design looks like on the wall.
I’d say it looks quite cheerful. All those watercolor strawberries and leaves wrapping the walls in a breakfast nook.
I wanted something more dense with the strawberries so I kept designing until I came up with this one:
And this one:
These are all available in a large and smaller size pattern but my most recent one, not available yet because it is still being reviewed is this one:
I like this one. It has a pleasing effect when seen on larger pieces of fabric.
Strawberries has been fun and will be in my shop soon. Meanwhile follow the link in this post to Spoonflower.
Also available in my Spoonflower Shop is the ladybug pattern and coming soon are the blueberries.
Thank you for reading.
