I’ve been home from Idaho for a few weeks now. We came home to the 17 year Cicada. Let me tell you, it is noisy. They were everywhere. Flying through the air into my hair and car windows.
Last week we decided to go camping but I did not want to camp if the Cicadas were going to be that noisy so we drove across town to the reservoir campground to check it out. Can you believe it, they had no cicadas there. It was quiet and peaceful compared to our side of town so we decided to take a few days to camp.
I’m grateful that the days turned out to be cooler than they had been. The others spent a day on the boat while I stayed at the camper trying my on location painting skills. I also spent quite a bit of time riding around the campgrounds on my scooter. I am grateful for the many creatures who graced me with their presence. I could feel the peace in the natural environment that shelters and protects them. They were less afraid perhaps from being so constantly exposed to humans.
So sorry about the poor quality of the photo but rabbits will not sit still and it looks like I also moved while trying to catch them at play.
We are planning our next trip. Fingers crossed that it won’t be too hot.
Do you like to camp? My husband absolutely does. I do too but not nearly as much as he does. I like other activities, like sight seeing, long drives, walks in small towns with all the stores outside in the summer, eating ice cream and beaches. I also like museums and art fairs. Anyway, what do you like to do in the summer? Let us know in the comments.
Sounds like you had a great time. I love the pictures. We don’t get the cicadas here. I cannot imagine and don’t care to. I am not a camper. My husband loves it and we used to. I tolerated it for the sake of peace. Love long walks, short hikes, not too high, and sitting on the ocean shore watching the waves. Been a year plus since I had the chance cause of Covid.
Thank you Mary for the comment. I think you and I would get along great. Hopefully you’ll get the chance to do some of those things before too long. I read your poems. Blessings, Hanna
I love to go camping! I missed camping, like out in the bush camping, for many years because I am single and my schedule doesn’t always mix with others. So this year I headed out twice by myself to enjoy the great outdoors! It was fun! I took my paints, some yarn and crotchet hook, and a good book. With the river close by I enjoyed my walks along the shore. Met other campers but really enjoyed the time just relaxing doing what I love to do! It was a lot of work to keep up with the wood chopping but found a few angels there too. They left and gave me several of my wagon loads of chopped wood because they made so much! I struggled to chop 1 piece! I was so blessed by their goodness!
The 17 year cicada doesn’t look very pleasant! Good you found a place to get away from them! I hope they don’t go in your house. Love you sis!!
Hi sister, thank you for stopping by and responding. I think that I will enjoy camping more as I get stronger and heal. It sounds like you met some friendly Canadians. Hopefully you’ll get some good camping in this year. Love you tons ❤❤❤
