I was so determined that I had something to write and then it was gone.
Just like that it turned out to be nothing.
Yet the feeling I have about it is definitely something.
The lady’s great sense of humor thrilled me. We chatted and laughed together, wishing each other the best of Thanksgivings as though we were long time friends. It happened so quickly and today I’m still feeling the blessing of the encounter. It was all because I was easing myself into the passenger seat of my blazer, slowly, door wide open, while my dear husband was loading the groceries into the back.
I hadn’t noticed a vehicle moving into the space next to me. Next thing, there was a vehicle, pulled into the next space having narrowly missed my open door. I quickly pulled my door closed. Then I opened it to apologize for acting like the whole world is mine.
She responded with, “The whole world is yours” and that’s how it started.
We laughed and made some more comments to each other before wishing the Happy Thanksgivings.
I seriously hope that her trip through the busy, and discombobulated (by remodeling construction) Kroger is as happy an experience for her as our brief encounter was for me. I sincerely hope she has a wonderful holiday with family as amiable and cheerful as herself. I thank God for the encounter and for the lady.
I think she may have also blessed Mark with her lovely presence. I had expected a lot more of the usual pre- Thanksgiving Day shopping trip complaining from him. Perhaps I was so blessed that I may just not have noticed, but he did seem to be more quiet than usual.
This was my first grocery trip since my surgery. I really enjoyed it, the shopping and the knowing that I’m getting stronger and the pain less.
Everyday is better than the day before.
Soon I will be back to my normal duties.
At this point I haven’t done any painting. My beautiful sister sent me a gorgeous cornucopia of flowers for my birthday, which is on Thanksgiving day, and I just may try to paint that. I wonder how it will turn out.
I have cleared my desk in anticipation.
Hey! I’m apparently traveling backwards through time and know You’re doing a lot better now (YAY!!!!) but this is so sweet. It’s amazing how just a brief connection can be such a gift, isn’t it? I love when that happens!!! Sending You such huge hugs. 🙂
