Several Years ago I planted some yellow poppy seeds. I had previously had no success growing poppies and if there is one flower I would love to have in abundance around me it would be poppies. After the seeds sprouted and grew sturdy I planted several different plants in one pot. I decided that if one should not do well then perhaps the others will.
Later in the summer when all the plants had done well I saw this poppy blooming and several more buds coming. As I tend to do, I took lots of pictures.
This year in March 2021 I took a course called Immersion. Immersion has lots of instructions on how to use Adobe’s Illustrator. So for one of the lessons, the one on tracing a piece from a photo, I used one of the yellow poppy photos. This is the story behind this piece of art.
I learned so much while working on this. Not just more about using and practicing with Adobe Illustrator but also the importance of taking good photos. I do take a lot of photos but I would not rate all of them good.
I uploaded the art to Society6 as a way to share it. It does help me when my art is purchased from a print-on-demand site like Society6. I have tested some of their products and have been impressed with the quality and durability.
As part of the Immersion Course we learn many ways to offer our art. One way (there are actually many ways) which I haven’t tried yet is to open an Etsy shop and offer downloadable pdf’s.
So I opened an Etsy shop and put my Yellow Poppy in it. It’s the only lonely item at this time but it is there for anyone to download and print at home for their own personal use. I am so excited to have finally opened my own shop. It will be so much easier than what I had been doing on my website. Now there are two places where you can find my little yellow poppy.
Thank you for following along with my progress and reading my blog post.
What brave new things have you been trying lately? Feel free to share in the comments.
Love and blessings,
Hanna
I love this blog and your Yellow Poppies (Plants and art).
I just discovered this accidentally. Thanks for sharing. The brave thing I am working on is a picture book.
Thank you for stopping by and for your lovely words. A picture book is a brave thing. You are going to be so glad that you were brave when you hold your book in your hands. Love and blessings ❤
