Last week we had a day when it wasn’t too hot nor too wet. Chloe and I had a plan to go to an event at the library. Now the library here has several branches as do many larger towns and we mistakenly went to the wrong one. We asked and were directed to another branch, yet on arrival discovered that again we were at the wrong one. When we finally found out which library the event was being held at we decided it was too late and chose to go to the Springfield Museum of Art instead. It was something we had been wanting to do for awhile and it provided the much needed diversion from disappointment.
At the Museum we got to see the incredible oil and gouache paintings by the talented Christopher Burk.
We recognized the beautiful work of Charlie Harper as it is all over the walls of the Orthodontist office.
We were then delighted by the whimsical three dimensional art sculptures of Sharri Paula Phillips and her quilts.
The ceramic model crafted by Jack Earl had so much for us to look at.
Altogether it was well worth the five dollars to go in and take a look. We want to make a regular habit of going. The museum was in the middle of setting up a new show, so a second visit is in order soon.
Chloe put her contribution into the magical looking turtle to help fund art education.
We enjoyed our visit very much. It is a good idea to see what other artists are doing and visiting art museums is just one way to do that. Do you like to visit a museum of art? Where do you go to check out what artists are doing in your area?
On the way home we talked about how much space some of those artists need to do what they do. We dreamed of a large barn/studio and what we might do in a space like that. But for now we are happy to keep creating in our small space. An artist will always find a way to create something.
Thank you for reading about our trip to the museum.
Love and blessings,
Hanna
