Here I am taking a course through edx.org.
This is a website that offers online only courses through several of the world’s Universities, Colleges and Technical Schools.
These courses are college level and are free for the taking.
After you have taken the course and received your grade you can decide if you want to pay the $40 for a certificate or upgrade for a larger sum for a credit. If you choose the credits you can usually transfer them to your program.
Never having gone to college, my only education after high school has been in the homeschool textbooks that I use to teach my children. Needless to say, I find myself longing to know stuff beyond the elementary curriculum. The particular course I signed up for has been archived, meaning that you can take it but you are on your own. There are others from all over the world taking it and you can still post your answers and interact with other students but I don’t think I will get a grade for this. So far, all the answers to the questions are available immediately after answering. If I don’t get the right answer, I can go back and change it. Anytime I have a question about something I can go to Google. They always have an answer for me. I rather like the whole archived aspect of this course because it means really low pressure. There I am with my introvert personality taking a course incognito.
The course is called: How to write an essay, and involves a lot of grammar. It is a BerkeleyX course. I feel that I need this to help me understand and be more deliberate about my sentence structure and paragraphs. At the end, if I feel satisfied with this course, I may just carry on taking more of these. Always learning.
What about you? Do you love learning? Have you found a way to keep learning? Do share in the comments.
Love and Blessings,
Hanna
