Monarch

Monarchs in the Milkweed, checklists and progress.

It’s been uphill and downhill here in my corner of the world. I feel as though I’m working hard and making a lot of progress but not sure where it shows. Haha

I am sensing a rhythm with my days and with my patterns. It feels important to me that I get into a rhythm, since I end up working a lot on the fun things and forgetting to do the less fun but also essential things. I decided to take a couple of days to organize myself better.

Milkweed honey bee

It all started with the Yellow Poppy. I wanted to cover all the bases with it and since it isn’t going to be a fabric, I thought it would be an easy one to start with. It is also the first project I did in Immersion 2021. I made a list of all the things that I needed to do with it.

I also made similar checklists for my patterns. There is a place to list tags to use when posting this art, and a place to list hashtags. I also left plenty of room for a description and story about the piece. This way the work will be uniform across multiple sites.

Milkweed caterpillar, Monarch. They are so beautiful.

So now all my work is getting a checklist and I will be working more systematically. No more, “what do I want to do today. hmm hmm.”

After I got it all set up and working lovely, I got a sinus infection and slept through whole days. Of course. I’ll be ok though, I am on antibiotics and probiotics.

Brand new Monarch Butterfly
A beautiful monarch.

I have been enjoying the milkweed and Monarch Butterfly life cycle so much. I was thrilled this morning when I got to see one. My daughter saw several yesterday flying around. This one stayed around especially for me, since I’m the one letting milkweed grow in my beds every year. They are incredibly beautiful. I grew parsley as well thinking that the Blue Swallowtail would come. Though I haven’t seen one yet, I did see a gorgeous yellow butterfly and forgot to bring my phone outside with me.

Are you a checklist kind of person, or do you just manage to keep everything moving smoothly without checklists?

Do you have monarchs in your area? What other beautiful butterflies do you have?
