Cooler weather was in store for us this week. It’s much later than usual. The tomatoes felt it and a few lingering annuals.
The parsley and the sage went into the dehydrator last week so that I can enjoy them all winter. The chives didn’t get dehydrated this year since it’s a lot of snipping, but perhaps next year. Homegrown and dried herbs from the garden in my spice cabinet, you can’t beat that.
#100artmoments
These are the painted hexagons from Irina Trzaskos Skillshare class that I shared on Instagram last week. I’ve painted 52 now but am behind sharing them. When I first started I was not expecting it to mean so much, but halfway through and I’m looking forward to the painting everyday. They do mean so much to me. I’m learning to trust the process. Don’t be too critical in the middle of the painting. Wait until it’s finished and then look at it. It’s wonderful to see the magic of watercolor, the water and the minerals. Blending, flowing, resisting each other then drying and presenting a whole new character.
New Designs
Next I’ve been working on the white flower designs and improving them. I added a colorway to them and a much smaller scale for each colorway. So now there are 10 colors and each comes in 3 sizes. I’m waiting for the proofs from Spoonflower, that’s when I’ll know if it was an improvement or not. Waiting for proofs is kind of hard. I’m not that patient, but I have to wait before I can put them in my shop.
Last Camping Trip this Year
Friday we took the camper out to the reservoir for a couple of nights. It’s cool at night and I love it like that. I was able to walk quite far and the exercise was wonderful. Having recently walked through several airports pulling my carryon bag and knowing how quickly I had recovered from it I realized just how much stronger I’m getting. I love seeing my strength and abilities improving month by month.
Books I’m Reading
I’m still reading Rhythms of Renewal by Rebekah Lyons. I think my next read will be Writing Through the Fog by Shana Ronayne. The foreward sounded really good.
So that’s what’s been happening here. What are you reading? Do you read these types of books or are you a novel or a history person? Do tell. I like a great novel too but lately I’ve been going for all the self-help books. I look forward to reading the comments. Also let me know what you thought of these books if you have read them.
Love and blessings Hanna
Fun to see what you’ve been up to, Hanna! Your hexagons are wonderful. I hope you get your Spoonflower samples soon!
I read some nonfiction, but mostly I love to get carried away in fiction. I always have a big pile of books on my bedside table.
