Easing Into the New Year

It has been a while since I’ve been on here. Easing from holidays into the New Year always seems to be a challenge. Even though I slept through much of the holidays, I still managed to finish a large puzzle with help from Cas and Mark.

This is the Cherries artwork I created in 2016. It makes a fantastic puzzle. Society6 (link) allows you to choose how many pieces you want, 200, 500 or 1000. We chose the 1000 piece because we love to be challenged.

It seems like it is always the best way for us to start a puzzle, by putting the edge pieces together.

We kept working on it until after New Year. We try to finish by New Year because we need the table for the New Year’s Day dinner but ended up eating casually around our coffee table in the living room. Altogether the puzzle was great fun, and we were alright with extending the holiday a little into January.

In the end we discovered a piece had gone missing. There are a few theories on what may have happened to it, but they are just theories, nothing more.

Needless to say, the holidays were simple, and food was bought ready to serve from the local grocery. We had a lovely time together with Elijah and the In-laws around the Christmas tree.

Look at Remy. He’s being such a good boy. He loves Grandma so much.

The next morning Cas surprised me like this. They must have stayed up very late, but I slept well and didn’t hear a thing. Look at that color, wow, and they did a really good job. So far, I like this color the best.

I spent some time in December taking some of my watercolor motifs into Affinity Designer and creating Holiday cards for the kids. I hand painted the word Joy on each card with gold watercolor. It was a fun project.

I didn’t finish the 100 days of art moments but may try easing back into it when things settle down. I am feeling a lot better and I’m in the art room every day. I spent the rest of January doing things around the house that needed to be done plus putting away the Christmas things. It was a nice relaxing start to the New Year.
